The history of our club

Winter 2001

Sensei Palmer opens his first dojo at the "Old Art School" at Sutton Coldfield College in November. He as one student (Alex Lawrence) who was recommended by a work colleague. By October 2002 Zanshin-Kai had twenty new members.
Spring 2006
We have the opportunity to open a "Junior Club" at Yenton Primary School (which we take up) purely for the schools pupils
Summer 2006
The passing of UKA founder Mr William "Bill"Smith OBE Shihan.
Summer 2006
We have another chance of opening another "Junior Club" at Featherstone Primary for the pupils.
Winter 2006
Zanshin-Kai move out of "The Old Art School" and into our new home at St James Hall in Mere Green.
Summer 2007
Zanshin-Kai opens its doors to all juniors within the Erdington area at Yenton primary School.
Winter 2007
Zanshin-Kai gets its first home grown "brown belt", as Richard Player is awarded 1st Kyu.
Summer 2009
Zanshin-kai now have three 1st Kyu students in the name of Richard Player, Adam Bennett and Alex Lawrence.
Winter 2009
Zanshin-Kai closes its doors at both primary schools
Spring 2010
Sensei opens a new Dojo at the Doug Ellis centre at Birmingham City University
