Alex
Name: Alex Lawrence   Age: 26
Grade: 1st Kyu   Dojo: Mere Green
Date Started Aikido: October 2002   Favourite Technique: Uchi Kaiten Nage
Least Favourite Technique: Koshi Nage   Favourite Film: Matrix Reloaded
Favourite Quote: "He said there were no strikes in aikido, so I hit him again" - Chiba   Hobbies: Reading, Writing and Paintballing
Thoughts on Aikido: Learning to perform Aikido techniques is not the same as studying Aikido. To study Aikido requires that you study the techniques you have learned to understand the priciples of those forms. When you can use those principles without need for technique you've mastered Aikido.

Rich
Name: Richard Player   Age: 24
Grade: 1st Kyu   Dojo: Mere Green
Date Started Aikido: April 2003   Favourite Technique: Kata gatami
Least Favourite Technique: Koshi Nage (Or any variant thereof, for that matter!)   Favourite Film: Titanic :D
Favourite Quote: “ Iron is full of impurities. Through forging it becomes a razor sharp sword. Men develop in the same way” - O’ sensei. This does not mean im a fanatic in any way- its just simple truth.   Hobbies: Debate, writing essays on pointless & academic subjects, Fencing & paitballing
Thoughts on Aikido: Aikido is often taught as a life long learning process. After a while you learn what one can conceive to be all techniques form all attacks. This is not all that aikido id and if you believe otherwise, you probably don’t understand. I once though of aikido as “noting more than fighting manoeuvres”. I was happy to be shown and proven otherwise…

Bob
Name: Adam Bennett (Bob)   Age: 20
Grade: 1st Kyu   Dojo: Mere Green
Date Started Aikido: Late 2003   Favourite Technique: Ude Kime Nage
Least Favourite Technique: Yonkyo   Favourite Film: 300
Favourite Quote: "He who says, does not know, he who knows, does not not say" - Lao Tzu   Hobbies: Philosophical training (drinking), Rock and Metal Music, Managing my nightclub, Cycling, Motorbiking and training.
Thoughts on Aikido: I can safely say that im not alone when I look at this question and say "Oh god" because its difficult to know where to start...and where to stop. For me, Aikido is...control, not only of my physical self but of my mental and even spiritual self. It also allows me to control anyone that wishes to bring harm to me, my family or my friends. So yeah, in short Aikido is Control but then it really is so much more, ahaha ;)
